How do I Give to St. James? The Annual Pledge drive is an opportunity to give thanks to God by giving financially to the church. The pledge drive takes place during September and October each year. Letters are mailed and dinners are served to generate enthusiasm and support. Pledge cards are then distributed with an invitation to give. These pledges make up 90% of our annual budget for St. James. Read more information on stewardship. Make your pledge to St. James online. Special Offerings From time to time the Rector will approve a special offering collection. These offerings are spread throughout the year and announced in advance. They might include things such as the United Thank Offering, the Church Periodical Club, Episcopal Social Services or other special group or event. Please contact the Rector if you have questions about these offerings. Food, toiletries, and cash donations (Penny Sunday) are collected for ESS to help the needy in our community. These donations are placed in the Deacon's Basket by the entrance doorway in the garden corridor. Your generosity is always needed and appreciated. Children's Offering Each Sunday the children in Children's Chapel take up an offering to God. They call this offering their "thanks givings." Toys, flowers, coins, money, and drawings are offered up to God and carried by a designated child to the main altar during worship. All toys are returned. After School Program The St. James After School Program does not rely on support from the church's general fund. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization separate from the church, though the program offers a path for all of us in this parish to reach out to the greater community. The main support for our program has always come from individuals in the St. James community, and from the St. James Trust. We ask that you please continue to pray for and support this wonderful program. Hope Chest The Hope Chest is the outreach project of the Junior Daughters of the King. A sign posted on top of the chest, and posts in The Tower, list what is being collected. The Hope Chest is located just outside of the Nursery. Items may be brought in and placed in one of the drawers. Afterward the girls deliver the items to the agency or group they were collecting for. Contact Kelly Harper for more information. Offerings of Food Offerings of food are asked for on a routine basis to help feed our boys and girls in the After School Program. Our youth collect food for the 5th Saturday Sack Lunch Program they support which occurs four or five times a year. An announcement along with a list of needed items will be in the Tower. Be sure to check out our Memorials and Tributes opportunities.
