St. James Trust Legacy Society

A loving, perpetual, outreach charitable ministry, the Legacy Society consists of people who have named the St. James Trust as the beneficiary of any type of planned or deferred gift. The purpose of the society is to encourage others to do the same. Membership is self-reported. We know some people who have included the St. James Trust in their estate plans, but who choose to remain anonymous.

Joining the Legacy Society requires two steps. First, arrange for a planned gift to the Trust in your will or estate plan. Second, inform the Trust by submitting the Legacy Society form, available from the church office.

There is no minimum bequest needed to quality -- only that you have made the necessary arrangements and are willing to be listed. We have received bequests, or know of future bequests or other types of planned gifts ranging from $1,000 to in excess of $1,000,000.

Legacy Society members may request the use of the distributions from their future gifts, or may leave the distributions to the discretion of the Trust Board. We encourage donors to discuss their gifts with us to make sure we can comply with their wishes.

Bequests are the most common method used to leave a gift to the Trust. However, making the Trust the beneficiary of a 401(K) or IRA plan, insurance policy, establishing a charitable trust in favor of the rust or other methods can quality a person or couple for membership in the society.

We will list the Legacy Society members in our publications which may appear several times each year. Each listing brings new inquiries and new members. Requests for anonymity will be honored.

Society members are invited to all Trust events.

Gifts supporting the Trust will ensure our ability to create and sustain the ministry of St. James Church.

All inquiries about getting started as a participant in the St. James Trust are welcome through the Church office, (316) 683-5686, in person or by mail. At your request, a member of the Trust Board would be pleased to personally provide additional information.
